Back Pain
Back pain is the most common musculoskeletal pain globally and is the most frequently treated condition in the clinic. Causes of back pain vary and can affect anybody at any stage in their life.
- Degenerative changes, such as osteoarthritis
- Injuries, from road traffic accidents, sports injury, or any other type of trauma, including falls.
- Posture, leading to fatigue or overuse of back muscles.
Back pain can lead to sciatica due to disc injuries, inflammation, or muscle spasm. This can put pressure on the sciatic nerve causing pain down the back of the leg and sometimes into the foot.
How We Treat
Once the source of back pain has been determined and how these impacts on life, through a case history and physical examination a treatment plan can then be agreed.
A variety of solutions such as massage, joint mobilisation, spinal manipulation, acupuncture, taping or rehabilitation exercises may be used.
Where treatment is not possible, other options will be discussed and any appropriate referrals may be made with your consent.
